About Georgia...
Georgia Barge is a vocalist and songwriter from Kansas City, Missouri and she currently studies vocal jazz at the University of North Texas. As a musician, she’s found her purpose and passion to be spreading the joy that music has given her, working towards giving others as positive of an experience as possible. Growing up, she was constantly surrounded by music and began to sing in elementary school, where she realized her love for the art. She began teaching herself piano and guitar, playing in small venues around Kansas City.
As a jazz musician, Georgia enjoys bringing in her love of pop, rock, r&b, and musical theatre to create her own genre-bending style. When back in Kansas City, Georgia performs at local middle schools and high schools in her area, sharing her experience of pursuing music in college and encouraging students to continue involvement in music programs after high school.
At UNT, Georgia has sung with the Seven O'Clock, Four O’Clock, and Two O'Clock Lab Bands as well as the Commercial Music Lab Band. She was also featured as the vocalist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. This will be her third year singing in the UNT Jazz Singers, the award-winning vocal group she toured with in April 2024 and performed alongside at the 2025 JEN Conference. She frequently plays around the DFW and Kansas City areas, playing solo concerts while accompanying herself on piano and guitar, or in small and large band settings. While performing, she loves interacting with the audience and relating to their stories.
Georgia privately taught students ages 8-18 while in Kansas City, and now teaches voice and piano to students in Dallas. Through teaching, she has been able to put into practice the concepts she has learned and developed through her experience and schooling. Being able to pass on the legacy of music is one of the most special acts that a musician can do, and nothing is more thrilling than when a student finds their passion in performing.
In addition to performing, one of Georgia’s biggest passions includes songwriting. She has released original music on streaming platforms, and is currently working on releasing an album of both original music and standards that have inspired her as a jazz musician. Georgia finds value in writing music on her own as well as collaborating with other writers to weave universal stories that listeners can relate to. She was accepted into the 2025 Women In Jazz Mentorship Program, where she worked with the award-winning vocalist Vanisha Gould.
In addition to majoring in Vocal Jazz, Georgia is minoring in Commercial Music, where she has learned practical skills to become a successful and knowledgeable entrepreneur in the music field. You can find Georgia frequently playing at the Mercury Chophouse in Arlington, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse, and the Kitchen Café in Dallas. Through performing, teaching, and writing, Georgia wants to show the world how beautiful music can be.
