The seminar is held in English.
Here is a short summary of its content:
Georgia faces a defining moment. The country was granted EU candidate status on 14 December 2023. Since then the ruling party has introduced a number of legislative acts considered contrary to EU values and obstructing the continuation of accession. The recent adoption of a Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence, modelled on Russian legislation, clashes with Georgia’s goal of EU accession. The ruling Georgian Dream party nonetheless claims that EU accession, a goal shared by most Georgians, remains achievable by 2030 negotiations.
The current situation in Georgia will be discussed by two panels of researchers.
The event is free of charge, but registration is required (see link in connection to "biljetter" below) as we offer coffee and snacks. When registering, you can also find more information about the content as well as more information on the speakers.
The seminar is arranged in collaboration between Malmö University and Europa Direkt Lund.
