BIO
George Maclaurin is a jazz pianist and composer hailing from Ōtepoti. He completed a Bachelors in Jazz Performance with Honors, at the New Zealand School of Music Te Kōkī at Victoria University of Wellington, and a Master’s of Music from The New England Conservatory in Boston.
He has performed regularly throughout New Zealand and the US, both with his own groups and as a sideman for great jazz artists such as Lauren Henderson, Brad Kang, Umar Zakaria, The Kira Daglio Fine Big Band, and Mark Tipton, amongst others. Now based in Ōtautahi, he holds the full time role of pianist for the New Zealand Army Band.
