Walk 2
Ordovician
Stiperstones & The Bog
This is the second of 6 geology walks visiting important geological sites in the county of Shropshire, in partnership with the Shropshire Geological Society and in celebration of CPRE’s centenary year.
This walk will introduce you to an overview of the stratigraphy of the Ordovician strata of the area with a chance to consider the mining industry – once a major feature of life in south Shropshire but now rather forgotten in an area mainly known for its rural landscapes.
The walk will take in Nipstone Rock and the Bog Mines.
Basic fitness is required for these walks and suitable waterproof clothing will be required.
