About this Event
On this walk we look at some of the fascinating geology of Shoalstone and Berry Head, looking particularly at the limestone and the red Neptunian dykes that seem to cut across it.
Rich is a local geologist and teacher, who has been interested in the rocks of Torbay and south Devon since he was young. He now runs Taleblazers, a community interest company based around storytelling, natural history, folklore and heritage.
No geological knowledge is needed for this walk, just an interest in the rocks that make up this stunning part of the world. Numbers are strictly limited for your safety and to allow us to pitch our descriptions at your level. The walk involves some easy scrambling to view the rocks at Shoalstone and we also climb uphill onto Berry Head to access the quarry.
