About this Event
What caused New Mexico to have so much beautiful and fascinating scenery? This course is a survey of places where geology tells a story of how Earth’s natural processes have changed landscapes over time. From red rock canyons to widespread volcanoes, from granite mountains to ancient seaways, from black lava flows to White Sands, we have an abundance of geologic stories nearby. No prior background needed — just curiosity.
Albert Shultz (Ph.D. Indiana University) was born and raised in the Santa Fe area. He has been a university professor and a petroleum geologist, working in the field, lab, classroom, and office, around the U.S. and abroad. He retired in 2015 and now lives near Glorieta, sharing his interests in rocks, birds, and stars with all who are curious.
