The Gentry Sultan quintet is the only living first-born descendant of the mysterious Pop Ivan legend. The instrumental blood contract was signed in 2012. His bass/drums/saxophone/trumpet quartet, which has developed over the years and performs its own compositions, expanded in 2019 to include percussion instruments. Summoning primal energy regardless of the current musical trends, they shape their anarchistic emotions into therapeutic melodies, nourish their vulgar-folk roots and attempt to address the universe time and again by merging early psychedelic and free-jazz traditions. Spicing up the mature, Dadaist format in this ageless melting pot of music is a fusion of Afro, Sramli, ’60s dance music and spiritual/punk mantras. Intentionally unsettling musical genres and trends are regularly filled with multi-directional, exciting electronics and androgynous forms of the vox humana.
