General Weedon began his career as a Lieutenant under George Washington in the French and Indian War. His tavern on Caroline Street was a known meeting spot for patriots. During the Revolutionary War, he assumed command of the 3rd Virginia Regiment following General Hugh Mercer’s death at the Battle of Princeton, and at Yorktown, his troops blocked Cornwallis’ escape route.
