About this Event
The Gender Justice & Intersectional Practice Conference 2025 brings together survivors, academics, policymakers, and community organisations to address one of the most urgent challenges of our time: gender-based violence (GBV). For women of African and Caribbean descent in the UK, GBV is deeply shaped by intersecting realities of race, migration status, class, culture, and systemic discrimination.
This conference applies the continuum of violence framework, which recognises that violence is not confined to isolated incidents but occurs across intimate, community, institutional, and structural contexts. By centring African and Caribbean perspectives, the event seeks to challenge invisibility in policy and practice, ensuring that lived experiences inform inclusive, intersectional approaches to GBV prevention and response.
