Join us for an exciting opportunity to make a difference this summer! Gearin' Up is seeking passionate volunteers with an intermediate level of bicycle maintenance skill to help us run our Earn-A-Bike Summer Camps. Our camps are designed to teach youths valuable bike maintenance skills and give youth the opportunity to earn their own bicycle.
During this orientation session, you will learn about the camp's structures, meet fellow volunteers, and get a comprehensive overview of your role and responsibilities.
Keep in mind, there are two separate week long summer camps, and 3 additional dates to volunteer during. You are not required to volunteer for all the dates, but that is appreciated.
Volunteering with youth will require passing a background check.
We are seeking volunteers for two separate camps taking place during the day from:
July 8th to July 12th at CityKids DC’s office in the Josephine Butler Building.
July 29th to August 2nd at the DC Dream Center.
Additionally, volunteers who cannot assist with the camp, or who would like to do more to support the summer camps can spend Thursday, June 27th, Friday June 28th, and Wednesday July 3rd preparing donated bicycles for the summer camps.
