About this Event
UFAA has designated Saturday, May 17, 2025, as International Gator Day, a day in which Gator Clubs® and Affiliate Groups around the world unite to utilize the size and spirit of the Gator Nation® to positively impact local communities. Gators will join together to support projects and programs within their local communities, using their time and talents to serve others.
Join the Gator Club of Miami and the Association of Hispanis Alumni as we give back to our local community at Pelican Harbor. Pelican Harbor Seabird Station was founded in 1980 for the purpose of caring for injured brown pelicans and has grown into an internationally recognized center for seabird rehabilitation. Volunteers will be pressure washing, coastal cleanup, cleaning and organizing our outdoor cafe, laundry and folding linens, organizing carriers, and deep cleaning animal enclosures of the Pelican Harbor Seabird Station. If needed the volunteers can help rehabbers prepare food by chopping fruits and vegetables. Volunteers will not have any direct contact with wildlife and because of space limitations will not be able to volunteer within the hospital.
The service will begin at 9am and end approximately at noon. All volunteers over the age of 10 are welcome to attend so bring the family. Athletic wear including sneakers or closed-toed shoes, breathable clothes for outdoors, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended. The club will have water available for the volunteers. If registration for the event reaches over 20 people we will partner with the Miami-Dade County Parks Department for a whole marina coastal cleanup to accommodate.
We are looking forward to bringing the Gator Nation and their families together in Miami for this day of service.
