About this Event
Small Private Online Courses (SPOCs) for Gaza is proud to present Gaza's Living Cinema: A Student Film Screening.
Join us on Friday, April 3 at 12PM at the Senate Theater(?) to watch a series of short films made by our students in Gaza!
SPOCS for Gaza is a student-led initiative, connecting education in and out of Gaza. We curate accessible courses online and manage access to electricity and internet for our students in Gaza, who are active contributors to the SPOCS community. We have over 300 students currently in Gaza.
In this event, we highlight work from Professor Ahlam Muhtaseb's Film Studies course. In Summer 2025, SPOCs students made short films. As a testament to their work --bearing witness to their creativity, resilience, and agency during genocide and the peak of famine --we are holding this event to honor our students and showcase their films to the greater Detroit/Dearborn community. This film screening is one part to our series of showings, with organized showings in Toronto and Boston.
Alongside the film screening, will hold a live panel discussion and Q&A with the student creators.
WHEN: Saturday, May 9, 12PM-3PM
WHERE:
TICKET PRICE: $30
100% of funds raised will go directly to our student filmmakers.
