Join Médecins Sans Frontières Ireland for an in-person update on the medical humanitarian impact of the war in Gaza at the Museum of Literature Ireland (MOLI) in Dublin on May 2.
The situation in Gaza is catastrophic. The healthcare system has collapsed. Most of Gaza’s hospitals are out of service, after being repeatedly attacked, besieged and raided. Patients and medical staff are being killed. Electrical power has been cut off, clean water is scarce and our teams are treating malnutrition as hunger takes hold. No one is safe in Gaza.
Médecins Sans Frontières surgeons, doctors and nurses provide emergency surgeries, wound treatment, medical and maternity care in overcrowded hospitals, health facilities and clinics since October 7. MSF teams work in two hospitals, a primary healthcare facility and two health centres in the south of Gaza. Teams are also working in a hospital and healthcare centre in central Gaza, while staff are supporting another hospital in the north. Our teams are offering surgical support, wound care, physiotherapy, post-partum care, primary health care, vaccination, and mental health services. Systematic sieges and evacuation orders on various hospitals have pushed our activities onto an ever-smaller territory.
Meanwhile in the West Bank, our teams provide medical care and mental health support in hospitals and through mobile clinics in response to an increase in violence and movement restrictions.
