Gaynor’s Dancing HorsesGaynor’s Dancing Horses as a Demonstration Team, goes back to 1980, when Horse and Hound’s Pippa Cuckson gave Gaynor that title in an article about Gaynor and the Team.
Never before had horses been seen choreographed and ‘dancing’ to live music played to suit their speeds, movement and personality. The Spanish Riding School have done formation riding to classical music, but the music is background accompaniment, and not to match the movements.
The Gaynor’s Dancing Horses Team is now created from horses and riders of all types and all levels from Novice to Elite International Grand Prix. There is such a variety, everyone can relate to the horses in the show. As Gaynor has been involved in the Music World, Musical Theatre and Dressage to Music, the shows are full of drama, beauty, empathy and glorious dressage. She is actually in the arena, surrounded by keyboards, playing LIVE to accompany the horses. The boundaries are pushed to levels no other team of horses can show, but most importantly, the horses taking part so obviously enjoy performing to the rapturous audiences. The Finale features all the horses, led in by 3 Grand Prix horses in Passage, to haunting music composed and recorded by multi-instrumentalist, played on an incredible sound system. The house lights are out, the horses are all wearing lights in their mains and tails, the atmosphere is electric. The music starts to build up, becoming more dramatic, and then, the whole cast of horses come into the arena in pairs. You have to be there, feel the atmosphere, see the horses performing a series of movements that will leave you breathless, whilst you are enveloped in the sound and the roar of the audience. To finish off, the two Shires excite and thrill the audience to a level that no other show can achieve and this does not describe half of what you will see!
