Gaulitana: A Festival of Music returns in April – unravelling the stories pressed in ink to be heard around Gozo!“A major festival of classical music”(Musical Opinion UK), the 18th edition presents a multifarious programme of concerts and recitals as international and local artists star in an eclectic mix of musical styles. This year’s festival celebrates the late Stephen Attard, a pioneering figure in Gozitan artistic circles and a staple presence within the festival.
The educational programme GAULearn as well as an exhibition focusing on 19th century music printing in Malta run in parallel as the for a month-long cultural bonanza aspires to kindle creativity amongst younger audiences and aficionados alike.
Nabucco highlights Gaulitana 2025 on 3 May, as Verdi’s popular oeuvre rich in grand choruses and gorgeous melodies is presented in Malta after an absence of 10 years. Held as part of the OPERA+ Weekend, the full-scale production features an international cast directed by Enrico Castiglione under the baton of Colin Attard.
Gaulitana: A Festival of Music, organised by the Gaulitanus Choir, is principally supported by the Investment in Cultural Organisations – Gozo of Arts Council Malta and the Ministry for Gozo partnered by Bank of Valletta, VisitMalta and APS Bank.
