EXPLORE the Bronze Age, Medieval, Tudor and World War I archaeology of Surrey.
WATCH virtual reality 360 films inspired by four historical sites in Surrey. Each film is 5 - 6 minutes long, and you will be able to watch them using VR headsets that will be provided on the day. The films will introduce you to four re-imagined characters who will tell their stories through text and movement:
- Brena, a woman living in the Bronze Age, near Runnymede Bridge
- Agnes, a young nun at the Medieval St Mary’s Priory in Ankerwycke
- Eelyn, a servant working at Woking Palace (Tudor)
- Albert, a soldier in training at Witley Camp in the First World War
MAKE your own artwork. After watching some or all of the films, you can take part in a clay activity designed by Hannah Maiya-Mills from , inspired by the film content.
Commissioned by Arts Partnership Surrey and created in partnership with Surrey County Archaeological Unit and Surrey County Council IoT and Emerging Technologies team, the Gathering Place 360 project is being supported in 2026 through Escalate Arts, an Arts Council England funded initiative, designed to transform how people work, design, enjoy and participate in the arts in Spelthorne. With thanks to Surrey Libraries for hosting the workshops.
