Exhibition Dates: April 18 – June 20, 2026, at Open Space Arts Society 510 Fort Street.
Shux Shux and the Island is an invitation to witness a sacred, four-year voyage following the life-sustaining cycle of wild salmon. The exhibition marks a pivotal moment in the Honouring Our Grandmothers Healing Journey, a project dedicated to lightening the burden of generational grief through the resurgence of Indigenous arts, culture, and language.
The exhibition and its accompanying programming centre Indigenous presence, relationships, and collective witnessing while creating space for dialogue around resilience, community care, land, and interconnected struggles for justice.
Presented by University Art Collections in partnership with Open Space Arts Society, community collaborators and participants connected to Shux Shux and the Island.
