Lok Dim Boon Gwan (六點半棍), the Six and a Half Point Pole. The final form in the Chu Shong Tin lineage of Wing Chun. The Long Pole is a common link among all southern Kung Fu systems, yet very few dedicate much time to this apparatus beyond learning a few basic exercises.
Why study this large and unwieldy weapon? How can it improve your understanding of Wing Chun as a whole and inform your fighting ability?
Gary King has devoted many years into not only training, but developing the skills of the Long Pole. His seminars each year at the Australian Wing Chun Federation’s (AWCF) national conference have cemented him as one of the leading authorities on this weapon, with a thorough integration of the skills into Wing Chun as a whole.
Join us for two exclusive seminars exploring Lok Dim Boon Gwan and how it will enhance your Wing Chun irrespective of your level of experience in the art.
1st Workshop: Saturday 16th of August, 12:30 to 14:00
2nd Workshop: Sunday 17th of August, 10:30 to 12:00
Gary King, now based in Canberra, has been training Wing Chun since 1985, with no significant breaks in training. A former Chief Instructor of the International Wing Chun Academy, co-founder of the Australian Wing Chun Federation and Sixth Level Instructor. His approach to Wing Chun emphasizes natural movement and non-reliance on prescribed structures.
The workshops will be held in the club's usual training room, George Murray, which is directly opposite the UniBar at the University of Adelaide.
There will be a cash-only fee of $40 for a single workshop, or $50 for both, to be paid upon arrival.
Parking is available along Victoria Drive and War Memorial Drive. Victoria Drive is directly in front of the University but has parking fees. War Memorial Drive is across the river but has free parking on weekends.
