Dancers Garuda Barre with Raena Waddell:Utilizing the ballet barre to push and pull, Raena's class emphasizes opening up space in the body while reinforcing proper alignment and strengthening core stabilizer muscles required for dance endurance and cross-training. The class is inspired by ballet, pilates, and yoga, offering a complete movement conditioning experience complimentary to various forms of dance technique and movement performance.
When: Wednesday 9:30am-10:30am

More about Raena Waddell:
Raena has built a 25 year career as a dancer, choreographer and movement educator in Edmonton. She has premiered 17 of her own choreographic works across western Canada, recognized by several funding bodies across the province and has trained extensively with various movement artists including James D'Silva and Heidi Bunting. Raena holds her Pilates Method, Hatha and Yin Yoga certifications as well as her Garuda Matwork and Apparatus education. Away from the stage, Raena teaches movement in hopes to encourage a sense of curiosity in her students as to how and what makes their body move in addition to offering skills to help her students prevent injuries. She has 15 years of experience as an instructor with all ages and abilities within the City of Edmonton along with ongoing classes with Mile Zero Dance, Orchesis Dance and Good Women Dance Collective. In addition to her in-person classes, Raena has taken her movement education and performances online and over social media for students and audiences around the world to participate from the comfort of their own homes.
