Garlogie Beam Engine and Classic Car (GVRS) Day Sunday 17th May 12pm-3pmGarlogie Mill (a couple of miles west of Westhill, Aberdeenshire), the remains of a 18th Century woollen mill, houses a historically significant Beam Engine (early form of stationary steam engine) currently undergoing restoration, as well as a substantial 1920s Hydroelectric turbine and high voltage generator plant. The Beam Engine is the oldest still in situ in Scotland, and the engine beam (a 1805 Boulton and Watt) is the worlds oldest surviving cast iron rotative engine beam.
Come along to our open day on Sunday the 17th May (12pm-3pm) and see how we are getting on with the restoration and see the classic car display by Garioch Vehicle Restoration Society. Entry is free but donations welcome.
