Join us for our annual community-driven invasive species removal event as we work together to pull garlic mustard and protect local biodiversity!Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) is an invasive plant that outcompetes native species and disrupts local ecosystems. By removing it from our natural spaces, we’re helping native plants thrive and supporting a healthier environment for all. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for most garlic mustard pulled!
This event is organized by Bi-CAN (Bi-State Conservation Action Network), and all ages and skill levels are welcome. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or new to invasive species removal, we’ll provide guidance and all the tools you need.
What to bring:
• Long pants and closed-toe shoes
• Water bottle
• A positive attitude! 😄
We'll meet at Black Hawk State Historic Site (Singing Bird Nature Center) at 9:30am, and together, we’ll make a real difference in preserving the health of our local ecosystem. Your participation helps ensure that native plants have the space they need to flourish.
Make sure to stick around afterward, when we'll be hosting a complimentary cook-out (vegetarian options available) and burning the garlic mustard we pull!
Let’s pull together for nature! 🌍💚
