Gardening with Butterfly Host Plants
Come join us at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for a fun and educational event all about creating a butterfly-friendly garden! Learn how to attract these beautiful creatures by planting the right host plants that cater to their needs. Butterfly gardening can be tricky if you don’t understand the needs of the butterfly in all its life cycle forms. In this class we focus on Host Plants for the egg and caterpillar stages of various species. We discuss some basic concepts of butterfly garden design and maintenance. We will have a power point presentation of the butterflies in their larval and butterfly phases with images of their host plants. Demo plants and when available actual caterpillars will be there to observe. We will learn how to attract 15 different species of butterflies to your garden. Demo plants will be available for purchase after the class.
