Nau mai, haere mai.As part of this year’s Albert-Eden & Puketāpapa Eco Festival, Dignan Street Community Garden is opening the proverbial gates for a relaxed open day, garden tour and pizza fresh from the oven!
Join us for a late-summer wander through the māra. We’ll share the history of this place, how it’s grown and changed over the past 10 years, our Hua Parakore verification and kaupapa, and the values and everyday practices that underpin the abundance you see around you. Plus, stay for a special kōrero from Matua Rob Small about our exciting project reviving 16+ precolonial kūmara varieties in partnership with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei and Te Pourewa.
This is a perfect event for anyone who’s curious about the māra but hasn’t yet made it along.
After the tour, stay on for woodfired pizza (served from midday) and good company. We’ll provide gluten-free pizza bases and tomato sauce — please bring a topping to share and something to drink. Come hang out, celebrate summer, and enjoy māra kai with friends, whānau and neighbours.
