This course will dive into the practice of seed-saving and Winter Sowing using upcycled jugs. Participants will also have the opportunity to make Spring-themed screen prints.Sowing and growing plants from seed is a time‐honored practice that is honed with experience. Special guest Julie McIntosh Shapiro will show you the secrets of stratification and other requirements some seeds need in order to germinate. She will explain when and how to start great seedlings that can mature into great plants – whether trees, shrubs, annuals, or perennials.
Julie will share a hands-on winter sowing technique for great early Spring crops, and you can plant seeds in a plastic milk container outside in the winter! There will also be a seed-themed screen printing activity with local artist Alea Clymer.
