About this Event
Gamelatron Sonic Sanctuary: 1000 Ways to Sit
Thursdays: Somatic Practices & Embodiment
Doors open: 6pm
Practice: 6:30-8pm
Tea & Connection 8-8:30pm
In resonance with the Sonic Sanctuary of the Gamelatron, these Thursday evenings invite us to return to the body—a living constellation of sensation, rhythm, memory, and breath.
Through meditative stillness, somatic inquiry, nervous system attunement, and deep sonic immersion, we unravel unconscious holding patterns and reconnect with our essential aliveness and collective resonance. Each session offers a unique yet interconnected pathway into presence, weaving a shared tapestry of embodiment. Whether seated, still, moving, or simply listening—there are 1000 ways to sit.
Specialized Workshop: The Sonic Somatics of Be With Resonance
Be With Resonance is a live sonic and somatic experience at the intersection of art, sound, and embodied mindfulness. Rooted in neuroscience, somatics, and contemplative practice, it invites participants into a curated space where vibration becomes a medium for healing, presence, and transformation.
Through analog instruments, voice, ambient textures, and guided prompts, participants are invited to listen with their whole bodies. More than a sound bath or performance, resonance is a co-created field of deep presence—where the body becomes a tuning fork and the space, an instrument.
This immersive experience supports nervous system regulation, emotional integration, and creative emergence. Whether lying down, seated, or gently moving, guests are held in a liminal state where sound is both heard and felt—inviting alignment, spaciousness, and collective coherence.
Ideal for art spaces and institutions, resonance offers an interdisciplinary approach to wellness, where art becomes medicine and sound becomes sanctuary.

About Heron Arts, The Gamelatron Project, and 1000 Ways to Sit:
Heron Arts is pleased to present the fourth exhibition of a large scale immersive Gamelatron sonic kinetic sculpture installation by Aaron Taylor Kuffner. This exhibition follows the success of the Resonance in Light (2022, 2023, 2024) that featured a Gamelatron interacting with various light based sculptures curated by John Parts Taylor. This year we are excited to welcome “Gamelatron Sonic Sanctuary: 1000 Ways To Sit” produced by Kamau Zuberi Akabueze.
This exhibition utilizes Heron Arts as a community wellness space offering a public immersion into the layered experience of resonance through stillness, space, and sound. Viewers will be asked to remove their shoes, stow their phones and choose from a variety of unique seats.
At the core of this sanctuary is the musical automaton Gamelatron ViaOro which features 44 uniquely tuned gongs and metal phones, starting in the 30 hz range and spanning across 6 pitch registers on 10 free standing sculptures illuminated by an interactive light-based artwork by Adele Lin and Matt Pinner.
Kuffner intends this exhibition to seed the idea and explore the potential of a global network of sanctuaries anchored by large scale Gamelatron artworks.
