CHILDREN AGES 12-17 ALLOWED. CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12 ARE NOT ALLOWED, NO EXCEPTIONS!!
CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT WITH A PURCHASED TICKET. NO EXCEPTIONS!! DO NOT PURCHASE AN ADULT TICKET FOR AN EXTRA CHILD!
VACCINATION CARDS REQUIRED FOR BOTH PARENTS AND CHILDREN UPON ENTRY.
Polvorones de canele are a type of cookie that originated in Medieval Arabia. The cookie was introduced to Europe and was later brought to the New World by explorers in the 16th century.
Medieval Polvorones had a high amount of sugar and often contained almonds and spices. Polvorones de canele is a type of polvorone cookie that is rolled in cinnamon.
In the United States, these cookies are known as Mexican Wedding Cookies. In Mexico, they often contain pecans and are served during weddings and celebrations.
In this hands-on baking class, attendees will learn how to make two types of polvorone cookies:
- Mexican Wedding Cookies
- Polvorones de Naranja (Orange)
Pastry Chef Norma Salazar will teach you the best methods for baking these historical pastries the whole family will enjoy!

Dress Code Policy
For the safety of all attendees (BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN), LA Plaza Cocina asks that all attendees (BOTH PARENTS AND CHILDREN) abide by the following guidelines of our Dress Code Policy to make our space safe for you, our staff members, and guest chefs:
- Please wear comfortable clothing with closed-toe shoes
- Please pull long hair back with a hairband
- Attendees must wear a mask throughout the duration of the program except for eating and/or drinking

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
Attendees (BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN) of LA Plaza Cocina's food programs must provide proof of vaccination to attend both the cooking classes and demonstrations. In addition, all attendees must wear a mask throughout the duration of the program except for eating and/or drinking.
For Attendees (BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN) who are NOT vaccinated, you must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours (3 days) before attending this event.
