He will share his exceptional skills and aesthetic sensibilities with us. For centuries, Hina dolls have been crafted with the finest Japanese aesthetics and techniques, symbolizing wishes for the healthy growth and happiness of girls. This cultural heritage reflects the elegant culture of the imperial court.
Takao Kosahata, the third generation of "Katsurabina" born in the former Katsura Village, has revitalized Hina dolls by incorporating innovative materials and designs while preserving tradition. The exhibition showcases a diverse range of works that go beyond traditional Hina dolls. It features beautiful colors woven with Nishijin-ori and Yuki Tsumugi fabrics, traditional Japanese colors and patterns, and innovative designs incorporating modern sensibilities.
The gallery talk will offer stories about the thoughts behind the Hina dolls and behind-the-scenes production. It's a great opportunity to discover the new appeal of Hina dolls through encounters with works that resonate with your own sensibilities and dialogues with the artist.
