65 Years of Telling Tales:
Bob Hainstock’s creative journey began at age 15, when his editorial cartoons first appeared in his local newspaper. Choosing journalism over art school, Bob spent 25 years as a reporter, photographer, and editor, telling stories of rural life and developing a passion for preserving the landscapes and values of Canada’s countryside. His acclaimed book, "Barns of Western Canada," celebrates the cultural heritage of rural communities and earned several heritage awards.
A career shift brought Bob to the Annapolis Valley and eventually to the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, where he earned a fine arts degree and launched a prolific career in printmaking and painting. With over 35 solo exhibitions and participation in shows across North America, Europe, and Asia, Bob’s art continues to draw inspiration from rural life, family, and the ever-changing beauty of the land and sky. He lives and works with his family on the north mountain, overlooking the Annapolis Valley.
