Gaijin Smash "Mountain" Release Party
Japanese/Canadian dance-punk trio Gaijin Smash returns with their explosive new single “Mountain”, marking the band’s most anticipated release since their debut EP Play Date.
A bilingual sonic rush featuring Japanese verses and English choruses, “Mountain” blends chaotic emotion with moments of clarity, capturing the fight through inner turmoil and external pressures - ultimately emerging with renewed strength and resilience. The track was mixed by Chris Koltay (Deerhunter, Jack White) and mastered by Noah Mintz (Death From Above 1979, Billy Talent, Broken Social Scene), adding heavyweight sonic firepower to the trio’s raw, urgent sound.
Gaijin Smash has previously received press attention from outlets including Exclaim!, Unite Asia, and Canadian Beats, along with radio support from NPR’s WBFO (Buffalo), CIUT (Toronto), and CJLO (Montreal). Onstage, they’ve performed alongside DVTR, Cross Dog, and Doghouse Rose, toured Japan, and played major festivals such as Exclaim! Class of 2025, Canadian Music Week, Music Waste, BitchFest, and London Punk Rock Flea Market.
To celebrate the release, the band will perform a special release show on January 17 at Art Bay in Toronto alongside Brother and Armak, followed by a DJ set from MaxedVisa.
