Join us for the FY27 Alaska School Safety & Well-Being Summit, happening September 16-17, 2026 at the William A. Egan Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage, Alaska, with pre-conference sessions taking place on September 15.
About the summit: Educational leaders, key staff, and strategic stakeholders, including representation from every district across the state, will convene to improve school safety and well-being in Alaska by both learning and sharing methods to: Promote healthy development, improve school climate, and be better prepared for any possible school crisis.
Key topics: The Safety & Well-Being Summit will improve academic success through the following key topics: Positive School Climate, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Suicide Prevention, School Safety, Emergency Operation Planning, Behavior Threat Assessment, Media Literacy/Internet Safety, School Health, Physical Activity and Physical Education, School Nutrition, Educator Wellness and Support, Leading a Safe and Healthy School, Substance Use/Misuse, Teen Vaping/Nicotine Use, Social Emotional Learning, Culturally Responsive Practices, Youth Engagement/Student Voice/Belonging, Family and Community Engagement, Health & Safety Related Policies, Absenteeism.
Audience: This event is intended for administrators, teachers, school counselors / nurses / social workers, community partners, school board members, parents, and students.
Funding Opportunities: We are hoping to provide each district with a small travel grant in GMS to help cover costs again this year. To apply for this grant, please indicate your interest on your registration form and you will be sent the application via email.
