Fust & Merce Lemon
with Walker Rider
Fust — the Durham, North Carolina-based band — announce their new album, Big Ugly, out March 7th. Big Ugly arrives after the release of 2024’s Songs of the Rail–– “one of the best alt-country compilations…in a long, long time” (Paste) –– and 2023’s standout Genevieve, which unassumingly introduced new listeners to Fust’s unmistakable blend of “small-town poetry” (Mojo) with a familiar yet probing “country-tinged folk-rock” (KEXP) that made it “one of the most fun rock records of the year” (Pitchfork).
Rooted in Pittsburgh’s tightly knit, intergenerational community, Merce Lemon grew up surrounded by art, music, and a small but fiercely supportive creative scene. After releasing Moonth in 2020, she stepped back during the anxiety of lockdown to reassess her relationship with music, finding renewal in nature as she spent her summer learning about plants, farming, and writing for herself. From this rediscovery came Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild, an album sprouting from earth’s green magic and filled with propulsive guitars and sweet songs of blackbirds and blueberries. Her music weaves together longing, belonging, and a deep reverence for the natural world, carried by the wild energy of her band and her own fierce vulnerability.
