About this Event
We’re diving into 2025 with another exciting edition of the Fusebox Artist Salon! Mark your calendars for January 30th, when we’ll gather at dadaLab for an inspiring evening of creativity and conversation in partnership with Texas Performing Arts.
We welcome the incomparable Suzanne Bocanegra and Geoff Sobelle, two groundbreaking creators who blend performance, visual art, and storytelling to reimagine the boundaries of contemporary art. Their engaging conversation will delve into the intersections of their creative practices, their collaborative experiences, and share insight into their upcoming performance of Honor, An Artist Lecture.
Suzanne Bocanegra’s multidisciplinary work draws inspiration from art history, theater, and personal narrative. Her acclaimed "artist talks" are performances in themselves, where she presents her artistic process and life story through a mix of visuals, music, and live performance. Bocanegra’s work often reflects her fascination with craft, communal traditions, and the intersection of the personal and the universal.
Geoff Sobelle is an actor, playwright, and performance artist known for creating immersive theatrical experiences that explore themes of time, memory, and the mundane aspects of everyday life. His works, such as the critically acclaimed FOOD from Fusebox & TPA’s last season, invite audiences to question their relationship to the spaces they inhabit and what they interact with.
We’ll also be joined by Allysen Hooks and Sir Elliot Beauregard, Esquire for two special performances!
Allysen Hooks is a dance artist working in improvisational methods to articulate thought-feeling-sensation in the body. Freshly back from a decade of work in NYC, she now channels her experience and vision into building a dance company with local dance artists in Austin. Through rigorous physical research and a reimagining of traditional dance aesthetics, Allysen Hooks Projects merges contemporary dance and performance art.
Sir Beauregard Elliot, Esquire is a local drag king. He is a multifaceted storyteller and lives to bring the audience into a world he imagines through singing, dancing, and the art of theatre.
As always the amazing Eva Suter of L’Oca d’Oro will be mixing delicious concoctions at our open bar. Come take part in an inspiring evening of exploration, dialogue, and performance.
