This 3rd annual event raises funds to help people in Ukraine. It’s scheduled for Monday, Feb. 24, the exact date the full-scale invasion began in 2022. Food will be served from 11 am -7 pm (or until gone). It features:
• A traditional Ukrainian meal: a Ukrainian smoked brat from Twin Cities-based Kramarczuk's, on a bun; T-Bock’s potato salad; and homemade Ukrainian-style stewed sauerkraut served warm. $15 per person.
• A kids meal of a hot dog on a bun and chips for $5.
• New Day (Novyy Den), a Ukrainian style wheat ale developed with locally grown Ukrainian wheat and brewed for this event by Pulpit Rock. In single cans for $5 and 4-packs for $20.
• A non-alcoholic juice popular in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine (known as birch juice)
• A raffle of an authentic Kyiv Cake, two light layers of meringue with hazelnuts covered in a chocolate glaze and filled with a buttercream-like filling and a Kramarczuk's Holiday Gift Box (4 beer sticks, 4 short Polish kielbasa, ½ lb. Krakowska luncheon meat, 8 beef wieners, 1 jar of mustard)
• “Webs of Care,” a photo exhibition showing the work of Ukrainian camouflage weavers, on display at The Landing beginning Sun., Feb. 15.
Funds for materials needed to support volunteer-led groups who make protective camouflage netting to help protect Ukrainian troops on the frontlines and equipment such as evacuation buses and supply trucks.
The meal will be prepared by Ukrainian native and Luther College Professor of Anthropology Maryna B. Nading, her husband Scott, and close friends.
Event partners are The Landing Market, Pulpit Rock Brewing Company, T-Bock’s Sports Bar & Grill, and Kramarczuk’s Sausage Company in Minneapolis.
Freewill donations will also be accepted. Ukrainian candy and small souvenirs will be available for donations as well.
Reservations are not required.
