Christina Clancy, born in Denver and raised in Milwaukee, graduated from the University of Minnesota, worked at IBM, and later earned a PhD in creative writing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She taught English at Beloit College for a decade before becoming a full-time writer. Her novels have been featured on Good Morning America, CNN, Travel & Leisure, and more, while her short stories and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and various literary journals. Living in Madison with her very tall husband and a little white dog named Bunny, Christina enjoys snowbirding in Palm Springs, practicing yoga, swimming, and visiting book clubs. She’s a super smeller who dislikes cilantro, a former cycling instructor, a frequent flyer junkie, and an avid reader who wishes everyone would read on airplanes.
Together for thirty years, Kim and Grant face the challenges of late middle age: loss, career changes, and an empty nest. Seeking a fresh start, they escape a Midwestern winter for the sunny allure of Palm Springs and the quirky Le Desert condo community. While Kim embraces new friendships and self-discovery, Grant struggles to adjust, straining their relationship. When Grant goes missing on a hike, Kim confronts the possibility of loss—or abandonment. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Palm Springs, this tender, humorous story explores midlife reinvention, the complexities of lifelong commitment, and the power of rediscovery.
