ABOUT THIS PROGRAM: For registered nurses, new to fetal monitoring, with at least 2 weeks of fetal monitoring experience to 1 year of experience in caring for the antepartum and intrapartum patient at the time of class.
Objectives include: Identify the purpose of fetal monitoring, Identify the components of the fetal heart rate and associated physiology, Describe fetal monitoring baseline characteristics using the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) terminology and criteria, Differentiate characteristics of Category I, II, and III patterns, Explain the instrumentation for fetal heart and uterine activity monitoring, Explain various methods of antepartum testing, Discuss the common nursing interventions related to fetal heart rate patterns and related maternal physiology, Discuss the components of nursing documentation, legal issues and communication
Criteria for successful completion and receipt of contact hours for this educational activity include:
- Attendance for the entire presentation.
- A post-test score of 80% or higher and completion of an evaluation to receive 7.75 contact hours
The week before class handouts and log in link will be sent to the email you used to register, make sure the email you use will not spam our email. For class all participants must be logged into Teams and be able to access Google forms. If you are using a computer at your organization, check to make sure Teams and Google forms can be accessed.
Certificates will be available following completion of evaluation and post-test.
