Fundamentals of Fetal Monitoring

About This Program: For nurses, new to fetal monitoring, with at least 2 weeks of fetal monitoring experience to 1 year of experience in caring for the antepartum and intrapartum patient at the time of class.
Objectives: Identify the purpose of fetal monitoring, the components of the fetal heart rate and associated physiology; Describe fetal monitoring characteristics using the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) terminology and criteria; Differentiate characteristics of Category I, II, and III patterns; Explain the instrumentation for fetal heart and uterine activity monitoring; Explain various methods of antepartum testing; Discuss nursing interventions related to fetal heart rate patterns and related maternal physiology; Discuss the components of nursing documentation, legal issues and communication.
Criteria for successful completion and receipt of contact hours for this educational activity include:
1. Attendance and active participation on computer with camera and microphone for the entire presentation- log in early to check connectivity, not allowed in after 10 minutes of class
2. A post-test score of 80% or higher and completion of an evaluation
The week before class handouts and log in link will be sent to the email you used to register, make sure the email you use will not spam our email. For class all participants must be logged into Teams and be able to access Google forms. If you are using a computer at your organization, check to make sure Teams and Google forms, camera and microphone can be accessed. Certificates for 7.75 CEUs will be available following completion of evaluation and post-test.
