Come join us at Chagford Cricket Club for a joyful community fundraiser celebrating 10 years of survivorship! After being diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2016 at the age of 9 and being treated at Bristol Children’s Hospital, this event marks a huge personal milestone and a chance to give back to the charities that supported me throughout treatment and have continued to help me navigate the long-term conditions left as a result of the tumour. The day will be a relaxed indoor & outdoor summer celebration packed with classic fête-style fun, including a BBQ, bouncy castle & zorb balls, summer games & stalls, raffles & tombola prizes, music, food & drinks! With activities for all ages. Funds raised will support children’s brain tumour charities, hospice care, and a special project delivering teddies with letters of encouragement & my story to children currently being treated at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Come join us for this summer celebration and be part of something truly wonderful!
My Story:
In April 2016, when I was just 9 years old, my life changed forever. I was diagnosed with a mixed germ cell brain tumour and transferred from Torbay Hospital to Bristol Children’s Hospital, where I spent three weeks in intensive care while doctors fought to stabilise me.
The months that followed were some of the hardest of my life. I endured 12 weeks of intensive chemotherapy and six weeks of radiotherapy — treatments that saved my life, but also took a lasting toll. I lost my hair, my strength, and much of the childhood I knew. I now live with visual impairment, diabetes insipidus, hormone deficiencies, hypothyroidism, chronic pain and fatigue — conditions that affect me every single day.
Ten years on, survivorship hasn’t meant the end of the battle. It has meant learning how to keep going, even on the hardest days. This event marks a decade of fighting, resilience, and hope — and gives me the chance to give back to the charities that supported me and my family, and that continue to help children facing their own fights today.
