SENSORY PLAY – We are beyond excited for this month’s MUSIC sensory play! We will be setting out two “Rain Drum Gardens” in our cushioned sensory tables. We will have rain drums and a variety of objects that make different sounds. Kids will get to drop “raindrops” (painted beans and rice) onto the drums and hear all the sounds they make. If it does happen to rain, we’ll put the drum garden in the rain and hear all the sounds.
STORYTIME – Ms. Christy will be reading “Little Raindrop” which tells the story of a cute little raindrop and its adventures (with a good nod towards the concepts of the water cycle.)
ART – This time our art project will be much more organized with comfortable places for everyone to sit and do the project. We will have 40+ trays set out for kids to do watercolor prints. Younger kids will use washable markers to make designs on tin foil. They’ll then add “rain” – water using a squirt bottle, or actual rain if it’s raining. Then they’ll press their paper onto the tin foil and peel it back to reveal their print. Older kids (and adults!) will have watercolor crayons available to create art which they can then add rain to.
**IMPORTANT NOTE** Sensory play includes a variety of ingredients and materials that may present choking hazards for small children, potential allergic reactions, and simply won’t taste good. Please be mindful of any allergies your children may have. A supervising adult must be present with their children during the entire event, and we ask that you supervise “mouthers” very closely. All participating parties must have a signed waiver on file. This month’s sensory play includes dried beans and rice which can cause illness if ingested.
