About this Event

Full Moon Summer Solstice

Cacao Ceremony with Dance & Fire Offerings

6.22.24 Saturday

7:30 - 10:30

The gates of summer are opening! For thousands of years, ancestral wisdom has honored the longest day of the year in celebration of the primordial force of sunlight– the creator of all life on Earth. On this day, we will come together in ceremony to celebrate and make offerings to the fire that this light may continue to illuminate our consciousness within and without.

Join us at Wild Nature Retreat for a playful yet sacred offering that weaves together a Cacao Ceremony, Fire Offerings, and Ecstatic Dance. Be prepared to howl at the full moon, honor the spectrum of the human experience, step fully into all of your senses, move and groove, connect with community, and give thanks to Spirit for this miracle of life.

The seeds that we sow within this potent portal will set the tone for the rest of the cycle. We come together in conscious awareness, prayer, and celebration.

Bio:

Dorothy Morganna is the co-founder of Cacao Source, a direct trade ceremonial cacao company based in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. She has been facilitating sacred spaces with cacao since 2018. She has a knack for weaving science with the mystical and the sacred with playfulness. With a background in environmental sciences, Dorothy found her way to cacao through a reverence for the rainforest. To her, cacao is a bridge that allows us to honor diverse, abundant, organic ecosystems from which the cacao comes from, and to bring healing to the hearts of the people who drink it with loving intention.

Dorothy has been a co-facilitator of seven cacao facilitator training programs through Cacao Source. She lived in Guatemala for four years learning directly from the cacao forests, as well as Mayan wisdom keepers, and training with various sacred space teachers. She loves cacao for its ability to open our heart spaces so we can connect more deeply to our intuition and internal guidance system.

FAQ:

What should I bring to the event?

For some of this event, we will be gathered in a sacred circle, for which I invite you to wear clothing that evokes your magical self. Underneath, you can wear clothing that allows for free movement. You’ll probably break a sweat during the dance.

Wear layers and thick socks.

Also bring a cushion to sit on, a water bottle, a journal, and a mug for cacao.

You are also welcome to bring offerings for the fire (such as magical herbs you connect with) and special items for the altar (like crystal, poems, and pictures).

What is cacao?

Cacao is the seed from a tree that grows in the tropical rainforests. Guatemala, from where this cacao is grown, is the home to strains of cacao that have been selectively bred for thousands of years by the Mayans who revered cacao and wove it into their ceremonies. The spirit of cacao is loving and nurturing, like a mother. It contains theobromine, which opens your heart and increases your heart rate. It also contains a small amount of caffeine.

Who should not drink cacao?

If you are taking SSRI Medic*tion, low blood pressure Medic*tion, or are undergoing chemotherapy, just take a few sips of cacao. It is advised by western medicine that women who are pregnant should just have a small amount, though in the Mayan tradition, cacao is a useful ally for pregnancy.

Is this event child-friendly?

If your child can sit quietly for 45 minutes for the opening and closing of the ritual, then your child is welcome to be part of it.

How do I give back to the land and guardians from which the cacao is grown?

In the medicine world, it is important to make offerings. That’s why with my work, I am committed to donating 5% of profits to the non-profit, Give Back to the Source. If you would like to make a direct contribution, you are welcome to at www.givebacktothesource.com. Thank you!

Do you offer scholarships?

If you are in a place of financial hardship and feel that this event would benefit your well-being, we invite you to reach out to talk about possible scholarship opportunities.
