Answers:
1. What if it rains?
We never do any sort of official cancellation; people turn up in all sorts of weather. Rain tends to slow it down a bit of course, but sometimes even when it's raining early in the evening some people will still gather later in the night if it clears up. Wind and rain is not much fun if it happens together. if rain develops when we are they're already jamming, sometimes we will go to a nearby hut and keep drumming.
2. Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely, it is a free event and all a welcome. On word of caution though, the start time says 8 p.m., but sometimes a bigger group doesn't develop until later which might be passed youngsters bedtime by then, your call.
3. I'm a novice, can I join in?
Absolutely, from absolute beginners to professionals we all just jump in and have a go.
4. It's 8.00pm, where is everyone?
The start time of 7.30p.m. is a suggestion that our community sometimes adheres to strictly, and at other times we straggle in when we can, and this almost always results in a night of fun for everyone. So, if you arrive at 7.30p.m. sharp, get comfortable knowing that more people maybe there or maybe on their way a bit later on. It will happen. Release your inner pied-piper and we will all come!
6. Can I use other people's equipment?
Always ask. Some drums are $500+, so understand if people say no. There are some wonderful people bring along extra equipment for other people to share, so just ask.
7. What can I bring?
You are welcome to bring a stool and drums or whatever musical instruments bring you joy! If you are into fire twirling arts (fire, LED, poi etc), hoola-hoops etc, that is good and you'll likely find like minded people. If you're drumming, bring a seat along. A picnic blanket, a picnic, and some good friends always good accompaniments.
8. Where does this all happen?
This all happens at North Beach... drive along Cliff Road to North Wollongong Surf Club (the nearest cross street is Blacket Street) then walk to the southern side of the Surf Club, just past Diggies Cafe and in between there and the Bathers Pavilion peeps will hopefully be there already having fun on the grass area.
