Full Cup is a six piece reggae band from Northern California, delivering a deep, intentional sound grounded in roots reggae, dancehall, dub, hip hop and world music, Fronted by TafarI and Johnny Dutro. Tafari is a vocalist hailing from Jamaica and heir to a lineage of Nyabinghi elders, Tafari’s presence brings a direct connection to the ceremonial and ancestral roots of reggae, anchoring the band’s sound in tradition while allowing it to evolve naturally into modern forms. Johnny Dutro is a local Chico artist whose music blends global and eclectic influences. His work incorporates elements of world rhythms and reggae-influenced vocals,
While fully self-contained as an original act, Full Cup is also highly respected as a backing band and has performed behind international reggae artists including Half Pint, Kulcha Knox, Arkangel, Andrew Bees of Black Uhuru, and Papa Wastik. Their ability to support legendary voices while maintaining a solid, authentic foundation has made them a trusted presence on stage.
Members of Full Cup have also shared stages with artists such as Norma Frazier, Rocker T, and Saritah, further cementing the band to the global reggae stage. On the drums is Darby McConnell, a founding member of Soul Majestic, who has previously opened for icons including Don Carlos, Toots and the Maytals, and The Wailers. His deep pocket and roots-driven approach bring weight and discipline to Full Cup’s sound.
