Juggling beyond the hands — explore using your whole body, be it with bals, clubs, staffs or other equipment! In this playful and dynamic workshop, Ariane Öchsner shares her unique approach to juggling and movement, combining elements of contact juggling, toss juggling, and antipodism (foot juggling) with dance and fluid motion. Through improvisation, exploration, and structured techniques, we dive into creative ways to integrate juggling with the body, refine tricks, and develop cleaner technical execution. Open to all levels and all props, this workshop invites you to experiment, move freely, and expand your personal juggling practice in new and unexpected ways.
Ariane Öchsner – Workshop Instructor
Ariane is a multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, and performer with a deep passion for movement and juggling. Originally trained in circus arts with a specialisation in object manipulation and contemporary circus, she integrates elements from various disciplines, including dance, theater, and physical performance. Her work explores the expressive and aesthetic potential of movement, always balancing technical precision with creative play.
With years of experience performing and teaching internationally, Ariane brings a research-driven and exploratory approach to juggling. She is particularly interested in the intersection of juggling and full-body movement, blending techniques from toss juggling, contact juggling, and antipodism (foot juggling) with improvisation and dance. In her workshops, she encourages participants to explore juggling playfully, develop their own movement language, and refine their technique in an engaging and accessible way.
Based in Vienna, Ariane is active in local art collectives such as TRAP – Circus Center Vienna and leads the queer feminist circus training B.I.T.C.H MOVES. She holds a diploma from the professional circus school DIE ETAGE in Berlin and a Master’s degree in Choreography from Codarts (Rotterdam) and Fontys (Tilburg). She has also participated in advanced training programs such as ESACTO’Lido’s "Formalisation de Projet" and Impulstanz’s ATLAS Dance Trails.
Ariane has performed and created award-winning productions, including Play Nice and sechZ, and has received numerous arts scholarships. Her work spans from interactive performances to politically engaged art projects, always aiming to challenge and expand the boundaries of contemporary circus and movement arts.
