Join ALPFA Denver and Law School...Yes We Can in this laid back and safe space to take care of your mental health .
About this Event

Being among the first or few in our families to pursue higher education or professional careers brings unique pressures. Many of us navigate between multiple worlds and we may struggle to balance it all. Many of us also struggle in silence because we think we are alone in our experiences.

But you are not alone. You have a community and together we will empower ourselves and take care of our mental health.

Join your community to safely and openly talk about these challenges. Our conversations will be led by licensed mental-health professional Andrea Girolmo, a Latina therapist who specializes in first-gen experiences, and Jazmin Chavez, a first-generation latina leader and executive. After the conversations, join us for a brief yoga/meditation session.

This event is casual - after the conversation, we will end the event with a brief yoga/meditation session, so come dressed in athleisure or comfortable clothing.

Light bites and coffee/tea will be served and provided by Migas Coffee.

This event is presented by ALPFA Denver and in partnership with ‘Law School...Yes We Can’, a Colorado-based organization that “supports students from communities underrepresented in the legal profession by providing them with the tools relied upon by students who have more resources at their disposal in their quest to attend law school”.

About Andrea Girolmo: Meet Andrea Girolmo, a licensed bilingual mental health clinician and consultant with a passion in helping individuals and organizations enhance their mental wellbeing. With almost a decade of experience in clinical mental health, she takes pride in not only using her education, but rich culture and experiences in helping others overcome obstacles. Andrea, is a native Spanish speaker, born in Lima, Peru and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Andrea enjoys trying different foods (some would say, food motivated and always in the hunt for good wings), listening to good old school reggaeton, and sharing experiences with her children and husband.

About Jazmin Chavez: Jazmin Chavez is the Vice President of Movement Building & Infrastructure at Hispanics in Philanthropy. In her role, she manages a high-impact portfolio and multinational teams comprised of Communications, Migration and Forced Displacement, Digital Innovation in philanthropy Gender, Race, and Power, and Organizational Culture & Belonging while leading multimillion-dollar fundraising efforts for both organizational infrastructure and equitable grantmaking strategies for scalable impact in Latinx communities. Jazmin is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, and International Coaching Federation-certified healing-centered executive coach. She has offered executive positioning counsel to clients, including those in Fortune 100 companies. Through her practice, Alma Mia provides healing-centered coaching and support to BIPOC leaders navigating white-dominant spaces, from early careers to the C-suite, empowering them to move with power, purpose, and ease.

About Law School Yes We Can: LAW SCHOOL…Yes We Can is the first law school pipeline program of its kind in Colorado – a program that targets high achieving college freshmen from diverse backgrounds and mentors and trains them for four years. It is also unique because it takes mentoring to a new level. In addition to helping prospective legal professionals meet the challenges their predecessors faced, the program helps these students (1) identify the unique challenges they will face in the future; (2) cultivate the skills and relationships they need to mitigate competitive disadvantages that can accompany those challenges; and (3) perform at their peak academic, professional, and leadership levels while they are still in college. Through exposure programs, LAW SCHOOL…Yes We Can will demystify the law school application process and give Fellows access to the legal profession.
