About this Event
Join us at Fringe Records NYC for the Queer Movie Club screening of VENUS BOYZ (2002), the groundbreaking, globe-spanning documentary that dives deep into drag king culture and the electric, complicated terrain of female masculinity.
Directed by Gabriel Baur, this early-2000s classic moves between New York, London, and Berlin, capturing performers, thinkers, and gender rebels at a moment when conversations about identity were expanding fast and refusing to sit still. Part performance documentary, part philosophical exploration, Venus Boyz asks big, thrilling questions: What is masculinity? Who gets to perform it? What happens when we take it apart and build it ourselves?
The film is sweaty club stages and backstage eyeliner.
It’s theory and flirtation.
It’s swagger, vulnerability, and gender as pure possibility.
