About this Event
Frontlines and Lifelines is a collection of poems capturing the personal experiences of Major General Tim Hodgetts, who served as a military doctor across four decades of crisis and war from Northern Ireland, through Kosovo to the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns, to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russo-Ukraine war. The collection provides a unique perspective from those whose job it is to manage the consequences of war.
We are delighed to welcome Tim to Aston University to read from his collection and to answer questions from the audience on his work and on his poetry. Copies of Frontlines and Lifelines will be available to purchase (£16.99 cash only) and Tim is also available to sign copies.
Major General Tim Hodgetts CB CBE is an Army doctor with a forty year career in the UK Armed Forces, holding the posts of Surgeon General, Master General of the Army Medical Services, Senior Medical Advisor to NATO and Honorary Surgeon to the King. As a Defence Professor of Emergency Medicine, he led improvements in survival rates of patients in Afghanistan and Iraq. Tim is an expert on emergency, disaster and military medicine.
