This training session will discuss a major fire that occurred in a 1.2 million square foot Walmart Distribution Center on March 16, 2022, in Plainfield, Indiana. This seminar will highlight key findings from this incident, as documented in National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s report, “Incident Analysis, Mega-Warehouse Fire, March 15, 2022” https://www.firehero.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/mega-warehouse-fire-incident-report.pdf. Today’s fire service faces growing challenges when responding to fires in massive warehouse facilities (some buildings are now exceeding 4 million square feet), we are no exception to this.
You will hear firsthand lessons learned from both Deputy Chief John Dixon and Lt. Matt King from the Plainfield (IN) Fire Territory who responded to this complex mayday incident. Ron Ritchey, from the NFSA will be presenting as well.
