About this Event
In this workshop, participants will learn how to take honest experiences and turn them into structured jokes. We will break down how truth, perspective, and timing work together to create comedy that connects with audiences and builds confidence on stage and off.
Fred “Big Fred” Watkins, is a comedian/actor, facilitator, and founder of Lil’ Laughs corporation. A Baltimore City native, Fred has performed stand up throughout the country and features for some of your favorite comedians, while becoming one himself! Fred’s also starred on Oxygen TV’s hit reality competition show “Last Squad Standing” and several mainstream projects. As a comedian, Fred knows that laughter opens people up to learning something new, becoming comfortable with vulnerability, and accepting hard truths. Through his organization, Lil’ Laughs, he works in schools with kids, educators, and families nationwide providing affirming, comedy-infused content and programs around topics like anti-bullying, violence prevention, and self-confidence. Fred is a 20th Anniversary Fellow of Open Society Institute - Baltimore and an Alden Institute Weaver awardee.
Registration required. In the event of open spaces when the program begins, walk-ins will be accepted until we have reached capacity.
