From Theory to Hands-On: OB-GYN Skills Camp 1.0
A specialized clinical training program is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Organized by the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV and AIDS (SCORA), BMSS in collaboration with OGSB Hospital and IRCH, this immersive camp offers medical students and young professionals the chance to sharpen their clinical acumen, practice essential procedures, and build confidence in managing common OB-GYN cases.
Through hands-on workshops and simulation-based learning, participants will gain practical exposure to vital skills, including:
- Normal vaginal delivery techniques
- Postpartum haemorrhage management
- Pre-eclampsia and eclampsia management
- Contraception methods
Guided by experienced OB-GYN specialists. By dividing all participants in a small group of 10 people, the session will be conducted in a comprehensive way to ensure the best learning environment. This camp emphasizes a competency-based approach, ensuring participants can effectively apply knowledge in real clinical settings, not just understand it in theory.
Another signature intellectual event of From Theory to Hands-On: OB-GYN Skills Camp 1.0 is the Debate Competition, aimed at promoting analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and articulate communication among medical students and young professionals. Recognizing that medicine requires not only clinical skill but also the ability to engage in evidence-based discussion, this debate competition offers participants a platform to refine these essential professional attributes.
The competition follows a knockout format in the style of classical debate, beginning with 16 participating teams. Preliminary rounds are held online to ensure wide accessibility and fair participation. The schedule of the rounds is as follows:
First Round: 12th & 13th September 2025, 9:00 PM (Online)
Quarter Finals: 15th September 2025, 9:00 PM (Online)
Semi Finals: 17th September 2025, 9:00 PM (Online)
The two strongest teams emerging from these rigorous rounds will advance to the Grand Finale, to be held offline on the event day, 19th September 2025, from 08:30 AM to 09:00 AM at OGSB Hospital, Mirpur, Dhaka.
During the Final Round, participants will engage in a structured, time-bound exchange of arguments and rebuttals, demonstrating not only their debating skills.
