About this Event
From the Fragment to the Whole
Join us for an inspiring evening of creativity and exploration at the From the Fragment to the Whole event. This exhibition is hosted by the Speaker of Hackney Council, Cllr Anya Sizer, and it will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 18:30 GMT in the vibrant setting of Hackney Town Hall.
Prepare to dive into a world of glass art and thought-provoking discussions on the power of creativity and its ability to shape our sense of selves, offering new perspectives on our personal stories.
Throughout the evening, you'll have the opportunity to see the mesmerizing display of artworks created in workshops with survivors of domestic abuse where we used fragments of broken glass to create stunning glassworks resonating with stories of resilience and courage.
Join in the discussion with Madam Speaker Cllr Anya Sizer in conversation with Artist and Founder Roberta De Caro and a panel of guest speakers including Neuroscientist Louise Spurgeon; Artist and Art Educator Katie Spragg; Cllr Susan Fajana-Thomas, Hackney Council Cabinet Member for Community Safety with responsibilities for VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls); and the contribution of one of the participants, Selda Kurtuldu, Trustee of the Freedom Charity.
Whether you're an art enthusiast, a creative soul, or simply curious about exploring new perspectives, From the Fragment to the Whole promises to be an unforgettable experience. Connect with like-minded individuals, discover the power of materials, and gain fresh insights into the world of socially engaged art and its impact on society.
Don't miss out on this incredible gathering of creative minds! Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and join us at Hackney Town Hall for an evening that celebrates the beauty of making and the journey from fragments to a unified whole.
This Non-Profit project is supported using the National Lottery funds through Arts Council England and generous donations from the public.
