The lecture will primarily look at two excavations undertaken in the centre of Northampton (at St Mary's Court and at The Market Square). These sites provide evidence of Northampton's development, character and changing fortunes from its origin in the Middle Saxon period through to the present day.https://www.mola.org.uk/discoveries
Mark Holmes is a professional archaeologist. He was head of Research and Engagement for the Northampton section of MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) until 2024. He has worked on a wide variety of sites, a considerable number of them in Northampton or Northamptonshire, but also elsewhere in the country including Padbury in Buckinghamshire.
